Labor & Delivery Service Line Update

Dimmit Regional Hospital has made the decision to discontinue inpatient Labor and Delivery services, effective June 30, 2025. While this decision was not made lightly, it reflects our ongoing effort to align our services with the evolving needs of the community.

This change does not mean we are stepping away from women's health. We remain fully committed to supporting the health and well-being of women and families in Dimmit County. In fact, we are taking proactive steps to continue offering important services in a new and more sustainable model, ensuring that our local patients continue to have access to care, right here at home. While this new model differs from what we're accustomed to, it ensures continuity of care for our patients and allows us to invest in other services and care models that will positively impact our patients' health. That's how we protect the future of healthcare in Dimmit County and our surrounding communities. We will continue to stand with you, to serve you, and to earn your trust, every step of the way.

To ensure continued access important to women’s health services, we are working with a partner organization to bring a mobile Women’s Health Clinic to our hospital campus. This clinic will offer monthly visits, and provide services such as prenatal care, postpartum follow-ups, along with other women’s health services staffed by their experienced providers. That monthly cadence will include tele-health services in between those visits.

We understand the impact these changes bring to many within the community, especially mothers who have been under our care in the past. For generations, this service has meant something deeply personal to families, and we honor that history. As a hospital entrusted with your care, we have a responsibility to ensure our services remain strong and sustainable.
