Groundskeeper - Maintenance
Job Summary:

Responsible for landscaping and grounds maintenance services for the facility, including mowing, watering grass, picking up trash and leaves and other debris. Supervised by Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

Responsible for the upkeep of facility grounds. Ensures landscaping is uniform with a satisfactory appearance.

Possesses vast knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems and maintenance, herbicides/pesticides.

Follows established schedules for trimming/pruning, fertilizing, mowing the lawn, planting, etc.

Operates all equipment/tools correctly and safely.

Performs routine maintenance on equipment/tools; maintenance is documented.

Follows all safety regulations: wears safety apparel when working, i.e., safety glasses, appropriate shoes.

Ability to calculate amount of materials needed for landscaping projects.

Designs landscape projects; able to read blueprints.

Repairs broken fences/posts as needed.

Ensures all outside walk ways are clear of debris, snow and ice.

Maintains all facility roadways/drives.

Maintains stock levels of materials and parts within budgetary constraints.

Ensures work sites are left clean and tools and equipment are returned to storage.

Stays current with new landscaping techniques, supplies and equipment.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.

Completes annual education requirements.

Maintains regulatory requirements.

Responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials.

Maintains trash bins free of boxes and litter.

Use safety precautions in all maintenance and grounds services.

Professional Requirements:

Adheres to Standards of Behavior.

Attends at least 75% of staff meetings; read, sign, and return all monthly staff meeting minutes if absent.

Strictly maintains patient confidentiality and abides by all HIPAA Privacy and HIPAA Security rules.

Communicates the mission, vision, and values of the Hospital as well as the focus statement of the department.

Actively participates in the departmental and hospital-wide goals.

Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

Documentation meets current standards and policies.

Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Observes infection control practices at all times.

Participates in staff training and education programs.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

• One year in groundskeeper preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.

• Job requires heavy lifting on an occasional basis.
